Change for life

These days, 'modern life' can mean that we're a lot less active. With so many opportunities to watch TV or play computer games, and with so much convenience and fast food available, we don't move about as much, or eat as well as we used to. Which means that 9 out of 10 kids today could grow up with dangerous amounts of fat in their bodies. This can cause life-threatening diseases like cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease - so it’s really important that we do something about it.

Health Walks

West Northumberland Health walks provide short (2-3 mile) walks on a weekly basis from 8 towns and villages across Northumberland. All the walks are free and there is no booking procedure. All the walks are led by trained volunteer leaders and the coordinator always welcome enquiries from anyone interested in training to be a leader.

They offer shorter walks (10-30) minute walks  for people who feel they can't manage a full hour. The walks are aimed at getting people started, and those with health problems that prevent them from completing the full walk.
